About

Founded on April 18, 2023, GenderForBharat has rapidly evolved from a blog site to a dynamic social entrepreneurship model dedicated to advancing gender understanding and equity. In just a short time, our team of over 30 diverse members—spanning across India and including international researchers—has thrived in our fully remote work environment. Our commitment to diversity and inclusivity drives our mission to make a tangible impact in the field of gender.

Genderforbharat was founded on April 18, 2023. During the first month of its foundation, we had more than 30+ people on our team. In such a small organisation, we had managed to uphold the utmost diversity, with people from all-around India as well as researchers from abroad. All of this is possible via our dedication to a remote-work set-up.

Initially focused on blogging, we have expanded our scope to produce insightful publications, offer consulting services grounded in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) principles, and provide educational resources that foster critical reasoning on gender issues. Our goal is to bridge the gap between gender theory and practical application, enhancing understanding in various spaces, including workplaces, educational institutions, healthcare settings, and personal relationships.

We started as a blog site constantly driven by the motive of soon turning into an actionable space. Today, we are a social entrepreneurship model that specialises in producing publications, providing consulting services based on DE&I principle and educating whilst also enabling critical reasoning in the field of gender.

GenderForBharat emphasizes its dedication to addressing gender issues specifically within the Indian context. Our name reflects our mission to drive meaningful change across Bharat (India), acknowledging the unique cultural and social landscape of the country. Whether you are a student, researcher, organization, or simply an inquisitive individual, we invite you to engage with our resources and contribute to a more equitable and informed society.

Whether you are a student, researcher, a full-fledged organisation (for or not for profit), or just a curious soul, there's something for everyone, here at Genderforbharat. Since gender enters every space, whether it's in the workplace, school, healthcare, or personal relationships, having a better understanding of gender can help us make a tangible impact in terms of development.

We work on the motto of "Sapere Aude'' which means "Having the courage to use your own reason".

Founder’s Note

I believe that every small step we take towards inclusivity and equity has the power to create a ripple effect that can lead to significant change. Growing up, I have seen the impact of gender biases and stereotypes in my own life and the lives of those around me. This has fueled my passion to make a difference and create a world where everyone feels accepted and valued for who they are.

I also believe that It’s important to take accountability as stakeholders of Bharat’s growth. For my team and I, this will happen by making every voice heard in every space, to use India’s diversity quotient to its fullest potential.
